Reiki (ray-key) is a traditional Japanese technique that cleanses and revitalizes the body while bringing it back into balance and harmony. Reiki reduces stress and negativity that can build up over time and impact upon your physical health. It deepens relaxation and promotes a sense of peace or wellbeing. It is used to help the physical body’s natural ability to heal itself, to accelerate recovery from surgery or illness, and to provide relief from medical side effects. Reiki is non-denominational and cross-cultural. You do not have to share a specific belief system for Reiki to be used or for it to work.
How Does Reiki Work?
The practice of Reiki involves "laying on hands" at specific energy points or chakras on the body. You may feel a temperature change and/or tingling sensation as negative energy breaks apart, clears away, and healthy energy flows within and around you.
How Long Does It Last?
In order to have more lasting positive results, it is important to have subsequent Reiki sessions and to actively make improvements in your life. For example, if you lose weight by dieting, but continue to eat unhealthy foods after going off the diet, then you will gain the weight back. Similarly, Reiki can make you feel better, but it requires regular maintenance and your commitment to live a better life, too.
Reiki Becoming Mainstream
The effectiveness of Reiki is validated by centuries of its reported healing benefits and its current use in hospitals, university nursing programs, medical centres, breast centres, and health-related facilities.
